FREE Food to the Community

United Way of Laurens County hosted a Harvest Hope Mobile Food Bank on Monday, April 23rd. The refrigerated truck pulled up at the United Way office a little before 10 a.m. Monday prepared to distribute FREE food for the first 100 families to arrive. With only word of mouth promotion the morning of the event, all of the food was distributed before 11:45 a.m. Families walked and drove from all over to the location to receive their food. VITA Program Update
|
|
Did you know that since February 4th, United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program has filed federal and state tax returns, free of charge, for 26 low income households in Laurens County? These returns have resulted in $19,819 in refunds. VITA runs through April 12th and is available to households making less than $50,000 a year. . Over 530 bags were Bags of Love were collected from local businesses and community members. Once again this year, the event was a great success. Bags were delivered not only to Meals on Wheels recipients but also to the residents of both Laurens and Clinton NHCs, residents at the Laurens County
